So I have been stalking this page for about 4 weeks now and I have decided to post to see if there is anything else I need to be doing!!
Ok I will try to make the story of the past 4 weeks as short and sweet as possible!
I started no pooing roughly 4 weeks ago and it was a downhill battle from the start and I was just about ready to give up. I statred with a BS paste and WV rinse (2 tbsp to 1c water). Ahh this basically fried my hair after a week! So I switched to using 1 tbs BS to 1c water with ACV rinse. This left my hair very waxy and just gross!! I wasn't at the point of giving up quite yet though! I added some lemon juice to my AVC rinse and it helped a little bit. I was able to wear my hair down for the first time in 3 weeks (but it still felt disgusting). Thus ends the good news for a while.
My hair was waxy, oily, dry, and I was starting to get dandruff all at the same time! I know there is a transition period, but this was insane!! So after some more research I decided to boil the water I was using for my BS wash. I don't know if I have hard water, but it was worth a shot!
So I used this mixture with my ACV/lemon juice rinse. My hair felt just ok but it was VERY greasy (I had to use a dry shampoo of cornstarch and cocoa powder after my hair dried!). Okkkk, so I tweaked my ratios a bit. I added more BS to my solution and some tea tree oil and I applied it to my dry hair, I also took maybe 1/2 tsp of straight baking soda and rubbed it into my scalp. I let it sit for 2-3 min and rinsed rinsed rinsed. I also adjusted my ACV rinse. I did a rinse of 1tbs ACV and 1tbs WV to 1c water. Lo and behold once my hair dried it actually felt like, well, HAIR!!! I was thrilled!! Well it still isn't perfect, there is still a slight waxy feel to it (esp on the back of my head), but nothing like the past few weeks have been! I don't know if this waxy feeling is sebum or a soap scum from mixing BS with hard water?? It also still looks a little greasy. I do brush with a BBB about 2x per day.
I am hoping with this ratio I will start to transition out of my transition period!
I will take advice from anyone about anything I might be doing wrong or could be doing better!! Thanks!!
