Hi there, I really want to start the no-poo method, but I am a little hesitant, as I do dye my hair every two months or so. My hair is naturally brown and I due it black. It's just a little longer than shoulder length. I was wondering if there was anyway to follow the no-poo method and maintain color treated hair. I use the commercial stuff, but I could switch to the professional type from Sally's Beauty Supply if need be.
I like my black hair too much to give it up, so if there is no feasible way to maintain the hair color and the no-poo method, I won't even try. However it would be a letdown because I do very much want to switch to the no poo method.
I was wondering if it would be possible, if not better to (after processing) thoroughly rinse the dye out of my hair and only use the vinegar solution, OR maybe use water only to get rid of the dye, and then no-poo the next day or a couple days later with very diluted solutions?

P.S. I just moved to the Northern California area, so the water is very soft. Also, I use a paraban-free shampoo and conditioner, and my hair has medium-thickness and tends to be on the oily side.

PLEASE HELP

I have my greys taken care of every 5 weeks and also have highlights added in the summer. I did the no poo for 3 weeks in June and ditched it because of the greasiness/heaviness. I wasn't doing any type of rinse. I looooved the curls it gave me back and didn't see any change in my color. I've since tried again and so far this method is working. I washed with a squirt of Dr. Bronners lavendar castille to 1 c water and followed with a rinse of 1 T lemon juice to 1 c. water. Curls are back and on day 4 no heaviness. My plan is to wash with this method once a week and use another curling shampoo I recently found for color-treated hair that is silicone and paraben free the other 1 or 2 days/week I shampoo.

You can use henna and indigo, which is healthier for hair than commercial dyes.

I have been no poo for three months and have dyed my hair three times in that period. I "wash" the dye out with Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose conditioner (silicone free). Otherwise I use BS and ACV every five days or so. The monthly deep conditioner really makes my hair soft. I love being shamphree!
