My own experiments with oiling my hair taught me that the only thing that will remove oil from my hair is shampoo. I used nettle tea rinses for a while but they worked best on hair that wasn't too greasy and were useless on oiled hair.

If I were you I'd have a good lather and start again. :)

Oh dear - it's easily done. The user info for the community says

"second, please don't put a tablespoon of olive oil in your hair if you don't use shampoo. it doesn't come out. yes, it works for people who use shampoo, but that's because they use shampoo, and can get the excess out when they wash. you, however, don't use any type of surfactant, so oils (especially olive) won't come out very readily."

I guess it's time to reach for the shampoo bottle.

Eeeek, I thought there were enough warnings about this. I've heard of some people using conditioner and letting it sit a while to get olive oil out (other oils some people can get out with water, but olive oil is usually a no-no) but usually shampoo is recommended.
